This picture was a
1" x 1 and 7/8" photo from a strip of four pictures that spit out of the
photo machine booths seen in many amusement areas as well as the" five
and tens" (bargain stores before large department chains replaced them
over the years). And yes, I too am old enough to remember them, thank
you. We wanted to give this shot a more nostalgic look to the color,
glamour and style appropriate to the woman's demeanor. The make up and
lipstick of the era were considered, not to mention what hand-colored
black and white pictures looked like in the late 1950's. We then
replaced the ugly shadow behind her with a background gradient. This,
like the areas that had color applied, involved creating
a mask of her silhouette in order to fill in the surrounding areas. The result,
we feel, is quite a classic beauty.
